FAQ electrician Traralgon

Answers to the questions Traralgon and Latrobe Valley customers ask us most — same-day service, switchboards, smoke alarms, EV chargers and quoting. Request a quote or call 0407 977 529.

Service and areas

Do you offer same-day service in Traralgon?

Yes. We aim for same-day attendance for urgent calls across Traralgon and the Latrobe Valley during working hours, Monday to Friday. We do not run a 24-hour roster — when you call 0407 977 529 we tell you straight when we can be there. See our emergency electrician page.

What areas do you cover?

Traralgon, Morwell, Moe, Churchill, Traralgon East, Newborough, Tyers, Hazelwood North and Glengarry — all on the AusNet network. We do not cover Sale, Maffra, Stratford, Yarram, Heyfield or Wellington. See our Latrobe Valley page.

The power is out — is it my side or AusNet's?

If the whole street is out it is usually the AusNet network; check the AusNet outage list or call AusNet's faults line first, because an electrician cannot fix the network. If only your home or one circuit is out, the fault is on your side and we can help — see electrical repairs.

Switchboards and safety

Do I need to upgrade my switchboard?

If your board still has ceramic fuses, rewirable fuse wire or no safety switch, an upgrade is overdue. We replace fuses with RCBOs and safety switches to bring the board up to current Victorian standard. See switchboard upgrades.

What if my board has an asbestos backing panel?

We will not drill or disturb an asbestos panel. We arrange for a licensed asbestos removalist to take it out first, then fit the new board safely. We are upfront about this extra step.

How often should I test my safety switch?

Test every safety switch with the test button every six months, and have it tested with instruments on a regular schedule. A switch that will not trip on test needs replacing — see smoke alarms & safety.

Smoke alarms and rentals

Are your smoke alarms compliant for rentals?

Yes. We install hard-wired interconnected smoke alarms in the right locations, test and date them, and provide a compliance record for the agent to meet Victorian rental minimums. See smoke alarms & safety.

My smoke alarm keeps chirping — what do I do?

A chirp usually means a low battery, an expired unit (most are rated for 10 years), or dust in the chamber. If a hard-wired alarm false-alarms it may be sited too close to a kitchen. We replace faulty units and relocate poorly placed alarms.

EV chargers and appliances

Can you install an EV charger at home?

Yes. We check the load on your switchboard, add a dedicated circuit, and upgrade the board or consumer mains where needed so the charger is safe and the rest of the house is unaffected. See renovation & new build.

Can you connect my new oven or induction cooktop?

Yes. We run a dedicated circuit with the right cable and an isolation switch, and confirm the board can take the extra load. We do not install gas. See renovation & new build.

Quoting

Do you quote before starting?

Yes. For larger jobs we inspect and give you a written quote. For smaller jobs we give you a clear indication up front and confirm on site. There is no charge for asking — request a quote or call 0407 977 529.

How do I get a price?

Every job is quoted individually based on the work, the access and the parts — we do not publish a price list. Call 0407 977 529 or use the form on any page to request a quote and we will get back to you with a clear figure.
